CHRISTINE VAN DER CINGEL

Christine van der Cingel paints cityscapes, people and animals. In her portraits of swimmers and dancers the emphasis lies on movement. Hereby, the suggestion of movement is more important than the simple reproduction of reality.

In the cityscapes, Christine plays with light. The way in which light makes the lines visible or invisible is central in her work.

The animal portraits represent a certain stillness. The animals almost assimilate in their surroundings. This is a central theme in Christines work: the desire to become one with the space around you.

Christine van der Cingel (1966) was educated at the Art Academy Minerva in Groningen. She graduated in 1992 at the department for painting.
