Sasja Wagenaar gets the inspiration for her monumental still lives from the small objects of every day life. She portrays them in all their simplicity against a background of rich fabrics. Her paintings are almost a tribute to traditional still lives. She plays with contrasts like light and dark and old and new. The works are nevertheless always characterized by a certain peacefulness and tranquility. The pure beauty of the objects is showed.
Sasja Wagenaar (1959) studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Amsterdam. Her work can be seen on several national and international art fairs.
