The bronze statues by Karin Beek are characterised by a friendly, round and at the same time monumental style. This makes the statues extremely suitable for public spaces. The bond between humans and animals is a recurring theme in her statues. Not only spatiality is an important feature in her work, but also the feeling and strength in her statues. Karin wants her work to be accessible and she likes to encourage viewers to touch them. The patina gives the statues a characterising appearance.
Karin Beek (1948) studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Academy of Fine Arts, both in Amsterdam. She received the Uriot-price for her oeuvre.
